Job Interview Guide

Hello Chums,

I want to share with you my top tips for preparing for a job interview. While I have been job searching I have found these tips so useful!

1. Research the company
This step is so important. Research the company, any awards they may have received, the work they are currently doing etc. Let the interviewer know how interested you are in this role by knowing the role inside out and the company. If the interviewer asks the question 'what do you know about what we do' then you will be fully prepared. If you can put the information onto index cards and have it ready to glance at before the interview, you will smash it.

2. Research the questions
If you know the title for the role, the chances are that people will have put their own experience online. Google what questions might be asked, or use glassdoor. I use glassdoor to find what other people have been asked for the same role at the same company. This means I can focus my efforts on what is most likely to come up and feel confident doing so. Again, putting them onto index cards to have on hand is a bonus - some interviews let you take cards in too!

3. Plan your day
Take the stress out of other parts of the day, by planning your travel and your outfit. You must look formal, unless stated otherwise. If you will potentially be representing a company, they want to see they would be represented positively. They also want to have punctual employees so, arrive early for any interview. Arriving early shows you are enthusiastic, punctual, but also gives you time to look over your notes! Check online for travel information and plan accordingly.

4. Find out what other information is available.
Do you know the interviewers name? See if they have a linked in page. From this, you can see if their previous business ventures have been successful, and if the company is one you can trust. Also, you can find out how senior the interviewer is in the company.
