Sustainable Christmas

Hello Chums,

Its nearly here! And some criticisms of thus festive time of year often revolve around the waste we produce. I have come up with some ways in which we can cut down on that waste.

1)Re-use the wrap
When unwrapping a present, if the sheet is intact, why throw it away? I have a dog who loves to unwrap presents so I wrap her present in used wrapping. I also take old gift tags off of gift bags and buy plain tags from the card shops. I then thread these back onto the gift bag and reuse it, no one would know!

2) Say no to glitter & foil
Glitter and foil wrapping cannot be recycled and if put in with your recycling can contaminate the whole lot! Try to use plain paper wrap - plain brown paper is a cheap recyclable alternative!

3) Reuse the Ribbon
The bits we often associate with Christmas wrapping can often be reused. Re use the BOWS and ribbons you use to save the planet one little bit at a time.

4) Care with cards
Cards can be a waste, especially when covered in glitters! If you are going to give cards this year, try to make sure your cards would be easy to recycle. Limit the number of cards you give and if possible find a good pack of charity cards!
